Remedies for Back Pain

The back pain issues are the most common health issue in people in the current day situation. It is the second most common affected after cold. It can be cured if proper care is taken within a matter of a few days or a couple of weeks, else it can prolong for months. It can be caused due to a number of factors. The various causes of low back pain are: lack of exercise, improper postures of sitting or standing or even sleeping. It can directly hit the spinal cord, or it might sometimes be an injury or damage to the muscles or tissues along the back bone. In women, more often back pain is caused due to pregnancy. Apart from this, it can also be due to stretched ligaments within pelvis, straining of lower back and irritating nerves.

Recognizing the type of back pain is important as there are various types of back pain such as:

  • Lumbar Muscle Strain where the muscle strains cause low back pain.
  • A Ruptured Disc is intervertebral more commonly known as herniated disc.
  • Spinal Stenosis is affected during old age, where the tightening or constriction spinal canal occurs.
  • Lumbar Spine Arthritis which affects joints such as the knees and fingers.
  • Spondylolisthesis causes adjacent vertebra which becomes unstable.
  • Osteoporosis occurs in various orthopedic problems and is most commonly related as compression fractures of the back bone.


Consulting the doctor as soon as you feel the pain is the best way. Similar to other treatments, the treatment of back pain is not quick and it takes sometime to cure completely. It proper care is not taken; the duration of treatment will increase.
Following simple tips or techniques such as those given below can be helpful in curing or preventing back pain:

  • Don’t lift heavy objects.
  • Push the object rather than pulling it.
  • Exercise regularly.
  • Wear flat footwear.
  • Sleep with a pillow between the knees while sleeping on one side.
  • Follow proper postures for walking, sitting and sleeping.
  • If you are sitting for long durations, break up in between to prevent back pain.
