The Nokia N900 is the new power-packed, portable smart phone from Nokia. There are various applications and games added in the N900.

The appearance is a bit bulky. But, it has a very powerful processor for faster processing and no compromises have been made with the looks. The N900 is a sleek, jet black colored phone with a glossy finish and sports an integrated stand. The touchscreen is 3.5 inch and easy to use and the response rate is convincing. A QWERTY keypad is provided in the touchscreen. Or you may also use the physical keyboard present. The side-slider N900 sports a QWERTY physical keyboard as well. The OS provides multitasking feature which enables the user to use multiple applications simultaneously.

The camera provided is a 5.0 MP camera with Carl-Zeiss lens, CMOS censor and an optical zoom of 3x.
The call features are pretty similar to the other N series phone. The N900 provides a convenient user interface where in there are various icons and applications present on the display. You can also create shortcut keys and bookmark various sites.
Performance:

The Maemo 5 OS has made its debut with N900. All the applications can be run in full screen. The Maemo has multitasking feature that allows multiple applications to be run on the phone simultaneously. The application manager is present so that all the minor applications can be upgraded to a firmware upgrade without the need to be connected to a host PC. The graphics fade out at some places, but there is a quick transition from one screen to another.

The call quality in N900 is pretty good. For the connectivity and transfer of data, the N900 has a variety of technologies such as Bluetooth, Infrared, GPRS, and EDGE etc. The N900 has another wireless connectivity feature WiFi, which has an outstanding WiFi antenna. The VoIP quality over the WiFi depends on the type of connection. The traditional loud and clear speakers are provided. The connection to the headset is also pretty decent. The IP based communication is a lot better than other phones. The integrated GPS feature is improved from other earlier versions with cell based receivers. Pre installed Ovi maps applications are present along with auto geo-tagging.

The web browser is an improved version from the previous models. Though the physical size of the screen was similar to the earlier models, the browsing with a high resolution was not difficult and was more comforting. In N900, you can zoom in and out of the web pages by a simple double tap on the touchscreen or a corkscrew operation by your fingers on the touchscreen. There have been considerable changes in the multimedia applications in N900 comparatively. The photo editor feature can be used to edit the pictures that are captured through the 5.0MP camera. The images can be swiped from one to another and the images will be able to resize themselves automatically.

Pros and Cons:

There have been a lot of convincing advancements and that are advantageous, such as: Design, multitasking features of Maemo OS, internet browser with zooming feature, presence of both physical and touchscreen QWERT keypad and simple menus and so on.

There are very few drawbacks as well. The size might be uncomfortable for few. The battery life needs to be improved. N900 slow down while using the functions such as the history function of web browser. The MMS feature is absent, which some of the users might not like.

Conclusion:

Keeping aside the few drawbacks, the N900 is a very good choice for those who are looking for high end phone with outstanding features. It is an exceptional phone with a good number of quality applications delivering rich functionality. Software updates can be made in this phone to have efficient working of the device. All in all, besides the very few drawbacks, the Nokia N900 is an excellent choice.
